Fashion/Apparel Design Entry Procedures

Entry includes the following:  [Deadline – completed entry must reach the Fashion/Apparel Design Coordinator on or before November 15, 2018].  Except where noted, do not attach name to any piece.

° Use Official two-part Fashion/Apparel Design entry blank (or print from web site http://www.NationalMakeItWithWool.com ) Follow All Directions.  Top copy with one 5″x5″ fabric(s) and 36″ yarn(s) sample set and $20 entry fee  along with Second copy with one 5″x5″ fabric(s) sample set and Submission Portfolio.  ALL Items to Meegan Veeder-Shave, MIWW F/D Contest, 475 N Quaker Lane, Hyde Park, NY 12538.

° 5″x5″ fabric swatches are of each fabric used and 36″ lengths of each yarn used to create entry garment(s)- (both sets included in package to Fashion/Apparel Design Coordinator with copy of entry form and $20 entry fee).

SUBMISSION PORTFOLIO INCLUDES —

° Design Presentation board(s) / sketches (no larger than 11″ x 14″ and no smaller than 8.5″ x 11″).

° Description of garment(s) and any handmade accessories.

° Description of design method process used (flat pattern / draping / CAD).

° 5×7 or 8×10 color photos showing front and back of garment worn by participant or model.  Please use plain, uncluttered background.

° 2-3 minute video on dvd or thumb/jump drive.  Show the garment worn and styled by participant/model.  Begin with garment front, show back and sides.  Include close-ups showing design and construction details, fit, etc.  NO commentary, music, or artistic camera angles. Timed length of video is important – be certain to show fit and movement of garment(s).

° Cover letter — include: participant name, home and school addresses, date of birth, email address, applicable phone number(s), name of college/university, exact name of major course of study, advisor’s name and contact information [mailing address, email, and office phone number].

Your entry is not complete without all information, fabric/yarn samples, entry fee, and signatures.  MIWW is not responsible for late, misdirected, or lost entries.


Top finalists will be contacted individually to send in their entry garment(s) to Fashion/Apparel Design Coordinator for final judging and placing.  Those requested garments not received by the date specified will forfeit any potential placing and prizes.  Do NOT send in your entry garment(s) with the initial entry packet.
